Is forgiveness really about "letting someone off the hook?" Perhaps the Lord's way reaches higher than our own understanding.

We have all faced those moments when hurt cuts deep. Sometimes forgiveness flows easily for minor slights. Other times, the weight feels crushing, and we wonder how we could possibly forgive such pain.

Here is what shifts everything: you have been forgiven too.

Think about the times you have caused hurt. Yet God extends forgiveness to you freely. This divine love creates the capacity within your heart to heal and to forgive others.

Scripture makes this beautifully clear: "For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:14-15, ESV).

Forgiveness is not about releasing someone from consequences. It is about releasing yourself from the prison of resentment. When you forgive, you do not minimize the hurt or excuse the behavior. You simply choose freedom over bondage.

God's love provides the strength you need. Ask Him to help you in this sacred space where healing begins.
