I missed all of you last week. When you think about it, we have so many emotions: love, happiness, anger, sadness, and more. On any given day we experience one of these emotions, whether directed at someone else or shared with someone else.

When we feel an emotion like anger toward someone, we have so much trouble moving past that emotion. This is similar to when we try to forgive someone for bringing out those negative emotions in us. If we feel love and happiness, we are just fine with each other. But when those negative emotions arise, we cannot seem to move past those feelings.

Then forgiveness becomes the question. Do we forgive them? Can we forgive them? If we do not, what happens to the negative emotion we continue to feel?

Forgiveness proves just as difficult as letting go of those negative emotions. For a long time, I kept on my desk a simple reminder: "What would Jesus do?" When we are confronted with these situations, we should ask ourselves this same question.

Consider this verse: "And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses." (Mark 11:25, ESV)

What if the path to emotional freedom starts with one simple question: "What would Jesus do?"
