How do you see love? There was a young girl who thought her mother did not love her. Throughout her childhood, she held onto this belief. When she became an adult, she discovered the truth: her mother did not know how to express love because those words were never spoken to her as a child.

The young girl had carried much animosity toward her mother for years. Eventually, that burden lifted. As an adult, she forgave her mother because she realized it was not her fault. Together they learned to speak those words of "I love you" to each other.

As we go through life, misunderstandings happen. These misunderstandings bring disappointment, sadness, and unhappiness over situations we did not fully understand. The young girl experienced this very struggle. While it was difficult then, she and her mother ultimately discovered what the true measure of love meant for them through that trial.

Scripture calls us to this same grace: "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony." (Colossians 3:12-14, ESV)

What if the love you doubt is simply love unspoken?
