Do you have to change? Can you still be a kind, nice, and generous person when someone has done something that made you unhappy? We go through these situations to learn from them. What did some of our parents tell us? "It will only make you stronger."

We do go through these trials because God wants us to become stronger. If you can look at the situation from a different perspective, you will see something important. While it is hurtful for the moment when someone has done something hurtful to you, it is only temporary. You can forgive them because that hurt passes, and you find yourself able to move through those difficult situations.

Through this process, you discover you can set boundaries so the situation that created hurt does not happen again. Most importantly, you have become stronger and more capable to handle the next situation, test, or trial that is set before you.

Paul writes in 2 Corinthians: "So I beg you to reaffirm your love for him. For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything. Anyone whom you forgive, I also forgive. Indeed, what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, has been for your sake in the presence of Christ." (2 Corinthians 2:8-10, ESV)

What if every hurt is actually your invitation to grow stronger?
