Dear Yvette,

Your plan falls apart. You had it all figured out. You knew exactly how it would work. But God had something else in mind. And now you are angry, disappointed, confused. What if the detour is actually the destination?

What do we do when situations do not work out the way we thought they should? We have a plan to do it one way, but then God has a different plan.

It is hard to understand that God has a plan for each one of us. Sometimes we wonder: why did this not work? I thought my way would be better. Then sorrow comes because whatever we planned did not work out as expected.

You ask yourself, "Why?" The answer is simple: it is God's way, not our way.

Sometimes this may be difficult to comprehend. Think about the times things did not work out one way, yet worked out in a completely different way. That detour often leads somewhere better than we could have imagined.

This week, ponder this truth: what did not work out in your life, but may have worked out differently? Look back and see how God's plan revealed itself.

Trust that His way is always better than ours.
